The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs”CCEA” Approves 8 High-Speed Road Corridors across India at Rs 50,655 Cr
On August 9, 2024, the Indian government approved key projects including: – Extension of Pradhan Mantri JI-VAN Yojana until 2028-29. – Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban 2.0 to help 1 crore families with affordable housing. – Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana-Gramin to build 2 crore rural homes by FY29. – Clean Plant Programme with a budget of ₹1,765.67 crore. – 8 railway projects worth ₹24,657 crore.
On August 16, 2024, the government approved major metro and infrastructure projects, including: – Pune Metro Phase-1 extension (5.46 km) – Thane Ring Metro Project – Bengaluru Metro Phase-3 (44.65 km, 31 stations) – New civil enclaves at Bagdogra (WB) and Bihta (Bihar) airports – Road connectivity for Vadhvan Port to NH-48 in Maharashtra.
On August 24, 2024, the government approved: – The Unified Pension Scheme (UPS), merging NPS and OPS benefits, effective from April 2025. – Maharashtra became the first state to implement UPS from March 2024. – “Vigyan Dhara,” a new science scheme with a ₹10,579.84 crore budget. – The BioE3 Policy to boost biomanufacturing with key strategies for research and development.
On August 28, 2024, the government approved:
– Expansion of the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund (AIF) for broader and more inclusive projects.
– Launch of e-auctions for 730 private FM radio channels in 234 cities.
– Financial aid for hydroelectric projects in the North Eastern Region.
– Three railway projects worth ₹6,456 crore to improve connectivity.
– 12 new industrial cities under the National Industrial Corridor with a ₹28,602 crore investment.
